When removing paint from wood, the pH level can become highly alkaline depending on the type of paint remover used. Before applying any other wood finish, coating or paint to the treated surface, test the pH level to ensure the surface is ready for refinishing. Dumond® pH Test Tape is used to test the surface to ensure that the values are where they should be.

If you have used Dumond Smart Strip 1 HD and want to repaint with another paint, especially on porous surfaces such as wood, it is necessary to neutralize the surface after removing the paint and cleaning off the residue. Apply Citri-Lize after the paint has been removed and then test the pH level of the surface with Dumond pH Test Tape to be sure the process is complete.
